As more Bhutanese nationals seek employment and education abroad, the remittance business in the country has expanded in the recent years. To meet this demand, the inward remittance service of the Bank was revamped and re-introduced as TBankRemit on 22nd November 2024. The Bank has partnered with the Australian-based international remittance company, FoxFire Pty Ltd. to facilitate money transfers from Australia to Bhutan. The service was introduced to offer a reliable, fast, and cost-effective way to send money to Bhutan.

How it works?
- Download the TBankRemit App from AppStore or PlayStore.
- Click on “Register” and proceed with registration by entering your Australian mobile number, email and set a 4-digit MPIN.
- You will receive a 6-digit OTP in your mobile to verify your mobile number.
- Once the mobile number is verified, login to the App and verify your KYC and your email address.
- Once you have successfully registered and verified your details, you also have the option to enable biometric access to login with your Face ID.
- Login to the App with your MPIN. Click on ‘Verify KYC’ highlighted in red at the top in the home page.
- Fill in all the personal details correctly. Please make sure to enter all your address details correctly like postal code, unit number, street number and street name. Also make sure to select the correct state and street type from the drop-down list. Enter your right identity document number (Passport/Driving license) and make sure to select the right issue and expiry date of your identity document.
- To upload your document, you are required to take a live image of your original identity document or can be uploaded from your phone gallery. Select Bhutan as a ‘Document Issued Country’ in the drop-down list for passport and Australia for driving license.
- Next, you will have to take a live selfie of yourself. Please allow camera access if you are taking a life selfie and do note that the live selfie should be taken within 5 minutes.
- After you have submitted all the required information, it will be reviewed by our team to verify the KYC.
- Once your KYC verification has been completed, you can send money to Bhutan.
Following are the status of your KYC:
- Please verify your KYC to start your money transfer.- This means you have not yet started the KYC verification process. Please follow the on-screen instructions to begin submitting your details.
- Your KYC verification is Created.- This status appears when your KYC information has been successfully created and submitted for verification. Your details are now under review.
- Your KYC Detail is pending. Please wait for a while. - Your KYC information is currently being processed by our system. This status will update once the verification is complete.
- KYC Expired. Please resubmit your document. - This status indicates that the documents submitted have expired. Please update your KYC by resubmitting the required documents.
- KYC Rejected- This status appears if your KYC verification was unsuccessful. You’ll see a reason for the rejection, such as incomplete or incorrect information, expired documents, or unsupported document types. Please review the reason, update your information accordingly, and resubmit your KYC.
- Reset KYC Limit. 0 Attempts left. - This status is shown when you’ve reached the maximum number of allowed KYC submissions. You will need to contact support at tbankremit@tbank.bt to reset your limit if further attempts are needed.
- You can send money only after you have added your beneficiary. To add beneficiary, click on ‘Add Beneficiary’.
- You can send money to your own account maintained in Bhutan or someone else’s account.
- Enter all the correct details of the beneficiary along with the CID number. Enter the beneficiary’s contact number, Dzongkhag, Gewog, Village and current address of your beneficiary.
- You can then select the transfer option which is either the bank transfer or cash pick up over the counter.
- You can add beneficiary of any BTN account holders in the country or if you wish to send to your foreign currency account maintained with T Bank, you can add only T Bank’s AUD account holder/beneficiary.
- Enter the account number of the beneficiary and verify the account number.
- Once the account number is verified and beneficiary has been added, you can send money to Bhutan.
- Click on ‘Send Money’ to remit your funds. The exchange rate and the service fee will be displayed upfront.
- Select the ‘Purpose of remittance’ from the drop-down list.
- The transaction details and the beneficiary details will be displayed on the screen for you to verify the details once again.
- Agree to the ‘Terms & Conditions’ and click on ‘Confirm’.
- You will be presented with two payment methods to transfer the amount: PayID or Bank Transfer (using the BSB & Account number). Choose one of the payment methods and your transaction will be created.
- In order to complete the fund transfer, go to your Australian Bank’s Mobile Banking application and pay using your selected payment method.
- Please enter the amount inclusive of your transaction fee and make sure to enter the transaction reference number in the description field while making the PayID payment or Bank account transfer from your Australian Bank’s Mobile Banking Application.
