Eligibility
Savings accounts may be opened by the following eligible entities:
- Individuals (Bhutanese and Non Bhutanese)
- Associations/ Clubs/ Social Welfare Trusts/Community Based Organization
- Religious Bodies/Organization
- Non-Government Organization (NGO)
- Minor (account opened on behalf of the minor by a parent or guardian)
Firms, corporations, and government agencies may be permitted to open a savings account subject to prior management approval under special circumstances.
Features
- Unrestricted amount of Deposit & Withdrawals.
- Can be linked with an ATM to facilitate withdrawals by cards.
- Can be linked for Internet and SMS banking services.
- Fund transfers through different mediums like Internet Banking and TPay
- No restriction on maximum balance.
- The VAS (Value Added Services) and cheque book facilities.
- The account can be operated individually, jointly with other individuals, either or survivor, anyone or survivor.
- Competitive Interest Rate
For joint account holder, only Primary account holder can be linked with the TPay and SMS banking facilities.
Dormant Account
- All Bank Accounts that have had no transaction for a period of one year are considered “DORMANT ACCOUNTS.” However, the operation of a dormant account shall only be permitted after filling out an Account Activation Form and updating the KYC, if required, and proper verification of identification.
- We encourage our customers to keep their accounts active by making periodic transactions.

- A copy of CID
- 2 copies of passport sized photographs.
- 2 Legal Stamp.
For Minor Account
- A copy of CID (Parents/Guardians)
- A copy of health card of the minor/Family Tree
- 2 copies of passport sized photographs (Parents/Guardians)
- 2 Legal Stamps
For Non Bhutanese Individuals
- A copy of valid Work Permit issued by the Government of Bhutan/Passport
- Letter from the employer in Bhutan
- Copy of construction approval (For construction workers only)
- CID copy of employer
- 2 copies of passport-sized photographs
- 2 Legal Stamps
The Trust under the Associations/ Clubs/ Social Welfare Trusts/Community Based Organization/ Religious Bodies/Organization/ Non-Government Organization (NGO) (Non-Profit Making Organization)
- Application letter from the Head of Organization
- Minutes of meeting, a letter from the Gup or certified copies of the club’s by-laws/rules/association documents.
- Letter authorizing the members concerned to open and operate the account
- Relevant documents should mention purpose and source of income
- At least two signatories of the account operators
- 2 copies of passport sized photographs of the members operating the account
- 2 Legal stamps
Opening of such savings account subject to prior Head Office approval under special circumstances.
Student Card
- Valid copy of student card

Special Resident Permit (SRP)
- Valid copy of SRP
